What is Blue 13 Sounds?
Blue 13 Sounds was created by Greg Muzljakovich of Blue 13 Productions. Greg, a recording engineer and producer, understands the importance of having high quality sounds and the value that this can add to any project.
After spending time and money on other samples from all over the world, Greg was never quite satisfied with these samples. Too many times Greg would buy a sample pack because of good reviews, a demo on the website, advertisements, and or referrals only to be disappointed.
"It's not that they were necessarily bad but I found a lot of common trends when buying these sample packs. Most of the time these sample packs usually had between 10%, maybe 20% tops that I'd actually use. They would say we have 500 samples which would be true but there wasn't any logic or reason behind how these samples were all put together for the sample pack. A lot of sample packs don't have velocity layers, a lot of samples contained a lot of noise (not the musical kind), or they were over processed with tons of reverbs, compression, saturation, etc. I also found that when I recorded certain instruments myself it never quite sounded like sample packs I had bought (for better or for worse). But there were always a few things I did really like and used in many projects and productions. So I realized a few things:
- Everybody has different taste in what they like and want. On top of that, producers and mix engineers have different artists and projects they work with. So having a variety of samples is really important.
- If I was having these issues then I know there are probably other producers and engineers who feel the same way. In fact I talked to several peers about this and most of the time, we had the same critiques.
- Once I moved into my commercial studio I knew it was a possibility to create high end sounds, samples, and loops. At this point I started figuring out what exactly I wanted and what I thought would meet a need to producers, engineers, songwriters, and creators.
I came up with a few rules.
So with that said Greg started Blue 13 Sounds: a sounds, samples, & loops company intended to save time without compromising quality.
"We've spent a lot of time figuring out what are the best and most common needs of engineers and producers that they could use and not actually feel like they were losing something from not recording the instrument themselves. I personally am very happy with what we've made so far and have been using these anytime they were appropriate for the project. I will continue to use these and add more to the library. Hope you enjoy these as well!"
